Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve is an untouched jewel, having been recently revitalised with wildlife, including 500 elephants, the largest translocation ever, and 1500 other species. Under the new management of African Parks, chaired by Prince Harry, this Reserve is going from strength to strength. Trips into the park, either self-drive, with a guide in our game viewing vehicle or on foot, allow you to watch Buffalo/Njati avoiding the Nile Crocodile/Ng’ona on the banks of the mighty Bua River, alongside many other exciting wildlife experiences.
Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve is open from 6 am to 6 pm daily. All visitors should go through the Main Gate to enter the reserve. Please be advised that park fees are paid directly to African Parks at the gate, and are not included in any of our rates. These fees may be subject to change.
Motorbikes and bicycles are not permitted to enter the reserve. Children below the age of 12, are not permitted onto the Reserve unless in a vehicle and accompanied by an adult.
Current Fees for Day visitors and Vehicles are:
- Malawi Citizen: MK450
- Malawi Residents: US$7
- Non Residents: US$10
- All children under 12: Free
- Fees for Vehicles entering the reserve are:
- For vehicles weighing less than 2000 kg: US$3
- Vehicles 2000-5000 kg: US$5
- Vehicles over 5000 kg: US$15
Please note that all game activities are weather dependent and subject to the availability of rangers on the Reserve.
